Private beta · invite-only

Know every morning
if you’re on budget.

Other apps wait for you to open them. Oikonome sends one check-in every morning — to email, text, or push: on budget or over, and the number to hit today. Hosted plans at launch, or self-host free — no feature gates, ever.

No card · no signup · the real app on a synthetic household.

Hosted plans open at launch — beta seats are invite-only and not open yet.

This is the product — not a dashboard habit. Critical hits also fire as push alerts you configure.

Why Oikonome

Built around one honest answer a day.

Most finance apps are charts you have to remember to look at. Oikonome leads with the answer — sent to you by email, text, or push — and backs it with deeper forecasting and import than the subscription apps most people already pay for.

Four things you won’t find together anywhere else:

The check-in is the product

The daily verdict is the core loop — email, text, or push — not a digest afterthought buried in settings.

Self-host or hosted

Full-feature self-host and a hosted option. A subscription is a choice here, not a requirement.

Retirement on real history

Retirement sim with historical market replay — not a single rosy line chart pretending certainty.

Payoff-aware forecast

Cash forecast that models statement vs full card payoff — the decision households actually make.

Auto bill find

It spots paychecks and bills — you approve.

After history lands (sync or import), Bills runs detection from real cadence and amounts. You get a queue of proposals — rent, utilities, subscriptions, paychecks — approve or reject each one. No typing every merchant by hand.

  • Detected from your ledger, not a generic merchant list
  • One-tap approve · reject noise · edit before commit
  • Add as bill or envelope straight from a transaction
  • Paid early? Occurrences show ✓ and stop reserving cash

When things change

Hints, drift, and suggestions — not silent wrong numbers.

Subscriptions hike. Categories need a nudge. The plan should explain itself. Oikonome surfaces change instead of hoping you notice.

  • Amount drift — bill settles higher (Comcast $70→$80)? Auto-updates the bill + audit trail; hand-edits stay protected for 60 days
  • Price creep & doubles — called out on Today and in the morning email
  • Budget suggestions — “Suggest from history” uses a trailing 6‑month median; you approve each number
  • Why you’re OVER — calm reasons and lens panes, not red-shouting noise
  • Category overrides stick — fix once; future sync never undoes you

What you get

Everything a serious household steward needs.

Not a half-built feed. Not a credit-score upsell. Auto bills, envelopes, Amazon vendor detail, community scripts, suggestions, hints, forecast depth, the morning email — and a public backlog you can request features on and vote for what lands next.

Daily verdict email only us

The morning signal: budget status, spend-at-most today, cash outlook, and alerts — delivered, not buried in a nav bar. Hourly sync sweeps keep the number honest all day. This is the product.

Auto bill find

Detects recurring bills and paychecks from your history. Approve or reject proposals — don’t rebuild your life from blank forms.

Monthly & annual envelopes

Caps for monthly habits; year pools for insurance, domains, car care. Lumpy life stops faking overspending.

Import your whole life

Mint exports, Quicken, YNAB, OFX, any CSV. Decades of history in one ledger — so forecasts aren’t guessing from last month of bank API.

60-day cash forecast depth

See whether cash runs out before it happens. Card-payoff scenarios (statement vs full balance) the big apps skip.

Retirement historical replay only us

Replay your plan against a century of real market paths — not a single optimistic line chart pretending certainty.

Bank sync your way

SimpleFIN, BYO Plaid trial, CSV/OFX always. Aggregator-agnostic so self-hosters aren’t locked to our vendor.

Zero telemetry · inspectable

No ads. No selling data. No phone-home on self-host. Fair Source — the full source opens for inspection at launch, so you verify rather than take our word.

Cash ahead

See the next 60 days before they happen.

Most apps show “what you spent.” Oikonome projects what you’ll have — including how you pay the card.

  • Bills and income laid into a real calendar
  • Statement-balance vs full-balance payoff paths
  • “Never runs out” or the day it would — in plain English

It does the work

Price creep. Double charges. Strangers — flagged for you.

You shouldn’t have to audit every line. Oikonome watches recurring merchants, calls out what changed in the morning email, and pushes the ones you flag as critical the second sync sees them.

  • Recurring bills auto-detected · step-ups called out
  • Duplicates and unfamiliar merchants flagged
  • Push alerts you create — digests + critical rules, live now
  • Hourly refresh so alerts aren’t a day late

Pricing

Self-host free. Hosted coming at launch.

Every plan runs the full app — the paid steps buy more connections and richer account data, because that’s what costs more to provide. Hosted sells setup, backups, and bank plumbing; never features.

  • Daily verdict on your own stack
  • SimpleFIN / BYO Plaid / CSV — your call
  • Cash forecast · payoff · retirement replay

  • Daily verdict — email or push
  • Hosting, backups, updates handled

Books

$20 / month
up to 25 connections

Everything in Holdings, plus:

  • Business entities, kept separate
  • SMS alerts
  • Priority sync

One connection = one bank, card, or brokerage login — however many accounts it holds. Hosted plans open at launch · billed monthly or yearly (2 months free) · the live demo runs the same app today.

No software feature gates — the app is identical either way. Hosted plans differ only in connection capacity and the pricier data feeds (they cost us more, so they cost more) — never in features. And you can always self-host the whole thing free with your own aggregator. Nobody gets locked out of their own money.

Trust

Finance apps earn this or they don’t.

Your data is yours No ads. No selling data. No affiliate cut of what you buy. The subscription is the whole business model — you’re the customer, not the inventory.
AI runs on our models, not theirs Categorization and receipts run on local LLMs — never sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google. An independent audit will prove it as we grow.
No phone-home Zero product telemetry on self-host, by design. Your container talks to your bank feed and your mail server — nothing else, including us.
Inspect the code Fair Source now, Apache 2.0 after two years. Read the code that touches your money, or run your own fork of it — no permission needed.
Built by Theron Pappas One person, running it on their own household’s money — decades of real history, every morning. Not growth theater.
We never see your bank password Bank connections use read-only tokens you can revoke anytime. Self-host keeps every credential on your own machine.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Can I try it before requesting access?

Yes — demo.oikonome.com is the real product running on a synthetic household: three years of history, bills mid-detection, an over-budget month to poke at. No signup, one click in, and everything resets on the hour. The screenshots on this page are taken from it.

How is this different from Monarch or Rocket Money?

They optimize for in-app engagement. We optimize for a morning email you can act on without opening an app, and ship cash-forecast, payoff, and retirement depth they skip — plus full self-host, which they don’t offer.

Do you send my financial data to AI companies?

No. Every AI feature — transaction categorization, receipt parsing, the assistant — runs on local, open-weight models we host ourselves (or that you host, if you self-host). Your transactions are never sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any third-party AI API. Nothing about your finances is for sale, to anyone, for any purpose. As we grow we’ll commission an independent audit and publish it, so this is something you can verify rather than take on faith.

How is this different from Actual Budget?

Actual is excellent envelope budgeting. We’re built around forecasting + the daily verdict + deep history import. Different job; many people use both kinds of tools for different reasons.

Do you have a mobile app?

Not yet — honest Y2 roadmap. The daily email is designed so you don’t need an app habit on day one. Web is first-class.

How do I get in?

Private beta is invite-only. Request access; we’ll email you when a seat opens (invites go out in waves). Self-host docs and source go up at launch, when you’re ready to run Docker yourself.
